Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington has been a journalist, TV personality as well as a philanthropist, author and journalist for more than ten years. She also is the proprietor of The Huffington Post, an independently-liberal online newsmagazine. Following her move from Greece to England from Greece at 16, she received a MA with a major in Economics from Cambridge University. As the first non-English speaking student to graduate, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. Then she became a conservative syndicated writer after her graduation. When The Huffington Post launched a couple of years following, she launched an online platform to voice opinions which offered critiques of politics. The celebrity she enjoyed helped her to convince several celebrities to contribute their opinion about current affairs, culture and politics. Arianna first gained notoriety during 2003 when she volunteered in the California recall election replacing then Governor Davis. Alongside this, she led a Detroit project that promoted the use of fuel-efficient cars. Her name was voted as the most influential women in media according to Forbes in 2009 and was awarded the 12th spot on that list. That same year Guardian named her on the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her head of its media division and also included several additional AOL brands like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Elli has two siblings, Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, and Elli the other, both of whom are management consultants and journalists. Her character was formed by the closeness she had to her mother, and the bond she shared with her father, despite being extremely close to the latter. In her early years she demonstrated the qualities of a leader that she is still known for. As a 16-year-old the girl moved into the United Kingdom for her higher education. She attended Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she joined the college debating Society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign president and was also the third female president. In 1972, she earned a master's degree in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a critic for a newspaper column and an anchor on TV. She also appeared in the show Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books, utilizing editorial guidance from Bernard Levin.
