Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the US. She is a Greek-American writer, syndicated columnist as well as a businesswoman. She co-founded The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an writer, journalist, TV host and the owner of The Huffington Post. Her move from Greece to England at the age of 16 and earned an MA at Cambridge University in Economics. The first graduate non-UK to become president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. She was a syndicated conservative writer following her graduation. When The Huffington Post launched a year following, she launched an online platform for voice that offered criticisms on politics. Her celebrity status helped her by attracting a variety of high-profile contributors to publish their thoughts on news, politics, and other topics. Arianna gained fame in 2003 when she decided to run independently for the California recall election in order to succeed then Governor Davis. Apart from this she also was the leader of the Detroit initiative to encourage the use of fuel-efficient cars. Forbes named her one of the "most influential female" in the media industry, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most influential media people in 2009. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she was made president of this media group. This included many AOL properties of that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. While she was close with father, her relationship to her mom shaped the remainder of her life. When she was a teen, she showed leadership traits that she's still known for. When she was 16, she moved from America to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. When she was in college she was a member of the Cambridge Union's debate societies in the college which she later became the first foreign female president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned the degree of Master's in Economics. In the years following her degree she became a columnist, critic and TV host. She also appeared alongside Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with his editing assistance.
